The Board of Trustees (BOT) is responsible for Hiring and evaluating the Executive Director; policy approval including: personnel, program and fiscal policies, fiscal oversight, and fund development. Additional duties include: assuring compliance with pertinent laws and regulations, ensuring proper management of risk, determining organizational mission, vision, and direction, policies development and setting short and long-term goals, monitoring the health of the organization, ensuring that NCCES reaches its goals, holding assets, such as: property, equipment, and endowment, and developing, and perpetuating Board leadership.
The Board of Trustees completes a performance review evaluation of the Executive Director annually. The evaluation is written by the Executive Committee of the Board based on feedback from two separate surveys: a self-evaluation written by the Executive Director and an online survey evaluation of the Executive Director’s performance completed by over forty-one members of the staff and the board. The evaluation is delivered in writing and in person and includes goals for the coming year.
The current board has focused its planning on specific three and five year goals related to three overarching goals of the plan.
