Ms. Vazquez: Why did you choose Sizer?
SW: I chose Sizer because it offers great academic support and the teachers are here to help students excel in their education. There are great kids at Sizer too. They make me feel comfortable.
Ms. Vazquez: What is your favorite subject and why
SW: I don’t think I can choose a favorite but if I absolutely had to, I would choose ELA. (English Language Arts) Ms. Pavlosky just makes the class and learning fun. I also like reading different genres of stories.
Ms. Vazquez: Anything else you want to share?
SW: Sizer is a great school. There are so many good kids that just make you feel like you belong and all the teachers are caring. It’s amazing. I love it here.
Interviewer: Thank you Sara, for taking the time during lunch to talk with me.
SW: This was fun. Thank you.
Sara joined us this year, entering into 8th grade. She admits that it was her parent’s choice but once she got here she knew that this is where she belonged.
I quickly mentioned the questions I’d be asking her the day before the interview, and she took the time to write them down and answer them thoughtfully. She walked into my office with a beaming smile, excited to get interviewed. She pulled out that piece of paper, almost as colorful and bright as she is, and read off her answers. Every now and again, she would go off on a tangent, eyes shifting about, as if seeing the moment all over again, smiling all the while.
She lit up when she talked about soccer and how much fun she had because “all the girls are friends, a team” and her coaches were great. She spoke of Mrs. Robbins doing cartwheels in the classroom while explaining rotating triangles, “something she’ll never forget”. She recently joined SiTA (Sizer Theatre Arts Club) and is excited for future sports, clubs and activities, as well as her continued progress in her classes and social development.
Ms. Vazquez is the Student Recruitment & Enrichment Coordinator at Sizer.
